Pursuant to subsection 5.9 (2) of the Aeronautics Act, and after taking into account that the exemption is in the public interest and not likely to affect aviation safety, I hereby exempt Canadian Operators from the application of the requirement set out in paragraph 605.86(1) of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) that no person who conducts a take-off in an aircraft, or permits a take-off in an aircraft that is in the person's legal custody and control can do so unless the aircraft is maintained in accordance with a maintenance schedule that conforms to the Aircraft Equipment and Maintenance Standards. This exemption is being granted subject to the attached Schedule of Conditions.
Purpose:
The purpose of this exemption is to allow Canadian operators to change the corrosion internal inspection interval for variable pitch propellers from five to six years as required by subsection 625.86 of the Aircraft Equipment and Maintenance Standards and set out in Appendix C under the Out of Phase Task Listings made pursuant to subsection 605.86(1) of the CARs.
Validity:
This exemption is in effect until the earliest of the following:
- the propeller internal inspection interval reaches six years, or 30 June 2001, whichever comes first;
- the date on which any condition set out in the attached Schedule of Conditions is breached;
- the date on which an amendment to the Aircraft Equipment and Maintenance Standards made pursuant to subsection 605.86 of the CARs comes into effect; or
- the date on which this exemption is canceled in writing by the Minister where he is of the opinion it is no longer in the public interest, or is likely to affect aviation safety.

Schedule of Conditions
- This exemption is subject to the observance and performance by the operator of the conditions of the exemption. This exemption may be suspended or canceled at any time by the Minister, in writing, where he is of the opinion that it is no longer in the public interest or is likely to affect aviation safety or for cause, including failure on the part of the operator, his servants or agents to comply with the provisions of the Aeronautics Act, the Canadian Aviation Regulations or any of the exemption conditions.
- This exemption is valid only while the operator is in possession of a valid permit, certificate, licence or other satisfactory document from the operator's own state of registry authorizing operations for which this temporary authority is granted.
- The operator must comply with the provisions of any Canadian aviation document that has been issued pursuant to the Aeronautics Act.
- The operator must maintain compliance throughout the validity period of this exemption with respect to:
- all other requirements set out in subsection 625.86 of the Aircraft Equipment and Maintenance Standards in respect of the applicable maintenance schedule; and
- all Airworthiness directives and Airworthiness limitations applicable to the pertinent variable pitch propeller.
